When Dead Detective Seamus is asked to investigate the fatality of wealthy entrepreneur William Dunbar, he's willing. Seamus finds the Afterlife nice but a little boring and looks frontward to chances to return to Life and find out why murder patients died and who is responsible. This time there's an additional submission: Will he take a detective-in-training along? Reluctantly he matches Mildred, who seems wonderful if a little headstrong. They consent to work the situation together, with Seamus in full command word. Suspects for Dunbar's murder include his family and personnel, notably his favorite grandson Bud, who was simply with him when he dropped from a bluff overlooking Lake Michigan. There's chemistry between Bud and Scarlet, a household employee, and Seamus magic why they work so difficult to keep it concealed. To his disgust, Mildred targets Dunbar's followed granddaughter Brodie, a difficulty child devastated by the fatality of her favorite "Gramps." Brodie considers no one on the planet cares about her now, and Mildred insists she exclusively can encourage Brodie to be on. Seamus is annoyed with Millie's disregard for the rules of non-interference with the living and with himself for disregarding his intuition about her. In case a disembodied spirit had the capability, he'd kick himself for providing her along. Despite Mildred's well-meant work, which create both laughter and trouble, Seamus proceeds the investigation. Occurrences soon spin out of control. A kidnapping causes a desperate run after toward the Straits of Mackinac, where Brody and Bud find themselves in peril on the Mackinac Bridge. Will Mildred become a lost spirit? Will Brodie find the will to endure? Can Seamus help his sponsor beat the killer, or does indeed his existence make things worse? There is nothing certain except the dire opportunity that more innocent people will wrap up dead for the money.
