The delightful, biting wit of Saki's short stories satirizing Edwardian high modern culture are some of the funniest and most delightful of superb literary miniatures. In this third volume, there are 21 glittering examples. Saki was the pen name of Hector Hugh Monro. He was created in Burma in 1870, where his dad was a senior standard in the Burma Police. From the age of two, he lived with two maiden aunts and his grandmother in Devon, and was informed in Exmouth and at the Bedford Sentence structure Institution. Later he travelled in Europe with his dad. He signed up with the Burma authorities, but resigned following a year because of ill health and went back to Great britain where he started his writing job as a journalist and short story copy writer for periodicals and newspaper publishers. Saki is regarded as a get good at of the short story. In the beginning of the First World Conflict he refused a fee, enlisted as a private, and went to France where, in November 1916, he was killed by a go to the head, his last words being "Put that bloody cigarette out."
