Beatrice Harraden (1864-1936) was a United kingdom copy writer and suffragette. A Bird on Its Voyage is the storyplot of a strange young Englishwoman backpacking by themselves through Switzerland. When she finds a mountain hotel, she discovers that the piano is badly out of melody. The young girl, although she is traveling with only a tiny knapsack, has brought with her a tuning hammer, and she proceeds to tune the piano. All of those other snobbish English guests assume that the lady is definitely a piano tuner, and as a result they ignore her and consider her impertinent and unfeminine. However the woman has a magic formula, and she soon has her revenge on the party.
