Download Radhasoami: A Critical History of Guru Succession AudioBook Free
Presents a crucial overview of master succession in the Radhasoami custom from its inception in the mid-1850s up until early 1991. Provides vital information for anyone thinking about the politics behind master succession in general. Includes extensive records and an exhaustive bibliography. Concentrates specifically on the introduction of experts in the Agra and Beas' branches and includes information on lesser known experts and activities, including Faqir Chand and Manavta Mandir. Central Concern: On August 24, 1974, Kirpal Singh, a renowned master of surat shabd pilates and founder of Ruhani Satsang, passed on at the age of 80. His fatality caused an intense succession dispute amongst his a large number of fans that has yet to be mended. Eventually a number of factions developed, each carrying out a different successor. Although almost all of Kirpal Singh's fans rallied around Darshan Singh, Kirpal's son, others paid allegiance to either Thakar Singh of Delhi or Ajaib Singh of Rajasthan. The interesting sociological question that confronts us here is how each successor to Kirpal Singh legitimized his role. That is, what type of ideological strategy have these would-be experts develop to be able to solidify their constituencies? Further, what were the sociable and historical factors that inspired or constrained their rhetoric? To properly treat and answer these questions necessitates a reasonably comprehensive summary of the social framework in which these yoga experts live and train. Thus, this review begins with a historical summary of Sant mat and Radhasoami in general. And secondly, I have focused on the precise master lineage that preceded Kirpal Singh and his successors.
