Beatrice Harraden (1864-1936) was a United kingdom writer and suffragette. 'The Umbrella-Mender' is a troubling story about an eccentric man who operates a repair shop for umbrellas. One night time he is amazed by the knock at the door. Outside is a guy who tells the umbrella-mender that his child is on his deathbed and needs to see his daddy. The umbrella-mender cause at once with the stranger. Throughout their dialog on the journey, the stranger talks about that he himself has murdered the umbrella-mender's child. The tension between the two men and the need for revenge, atonement and closure form all of those other story, which includes multiple twists and surprises.
