Man of Rock is John Irvine's early work and has been celebrated as a few of his best work of poetry within New Zealand in the present day century. John says: "Man of Rock genesis...Although I fiddled with rhyming poetry over time it was only once I came back to NZ in 1996 from a 29-year visit to Australia which i began to write in earnest. However, it morphed fairly quickly into observational products and I started to obtain a "feeling" for what I used to be doing. I found a female on the Internet in a writer's group who was residing in Greece, and after a quick trip there to meet up she made a decision to move to NZ. A few years flashed by and I was submitting globally to online mags and e-zines and on fire."
