Honor, an orphan, locates her way to the Victorian boarding house where she believes her mother may have birthed her. World Battle II has just finished, which alerted many Us citizens to the entire world beyond, but Honor and Billy's lives are limited by the dead-end town of DeForest Junction, Ohio, and its close by notcherie, where amazing women sell their bodies to the rail men. Alongside her mixed-race "cousin" Billy, Honor increases to womanhood, looked after by Neglect Alsada and enchanted by the colourful reviews of the shanty store owner, Mr. Augustus Willard, who cases to have traveled far and wide. 1 day, an itinerant blues musician shows up at the boardinghouse, electrifying Billy with his skill at the erect piano. He departs just as quickly, leaving behind hints that he could be Billy's daddy. Soon after Buster Stanley's departure, men in white hoods burn up a combination in the field behind the boardinghouse and torch a number of shacks occupied by dark-colored individuals. Honor and Billy decide to leave DeForest Junction - a feat they accomplish with the help of Mr. Willard, whose shanty store was burnt. With Honor disguised as a young man for safety's sake, the three friends trip the rails southward with their ultimate destination, New Orleans. Billy is on the trail of Buster Stanley, but Honor is with an intense search for Honor. How will she break free the fate of these women, waiting for a guy to fill the void in her life?
