Device 731: The Ignored Asian Auschwitz by Derek Pua, is not for the faint of heart. It is, however, for anyone wanting to more evidently understand the scope of Imperial Japan war crimes. This brief, dispassionate, and factual booklet outlines the creation and development of Device 731, a business that employed a large number of Japanese experts who conducted nightmarish experiments on an untold range of human being guinea pigs, all in the name of medical research. The Japanese invasion of China through the Second Sino-Japanese conflict has left a strong legacy of hate and disgust among many Chinese today. A lot of the atrocities dedicated by japan are now recognized to most historians, but certainly, the most despicable and neglected act against humanity dedicated by the Imperial Japan administration was its covert biochemical weapons program. Euphemistically labelled as the Epidemic Prevention and Drinking water Purification Team of the Imperial Japan Army, japan conducted a variety of cruel and inhumane experiments on prisoners who had been often innocent. Under the command of Dr. Shiro Isshi, the team subjected 3,000-250,000 innocent men, women, and children to cruel experiments and surgical procedure that were carried out by the brightest medical students and staff that Imperial Japan got to offer. Within a bid to build up its germ warfare ability, the federal government of Imperial Japan resorted to amazingly depraved and inhumane ways of experimentation, like infecting prisoners with virulent strains of anthrax, plague, cholera, and other diseases. These prisoners were often at the mercy of excruciating vivisections without the use of anaesthetics.
