A cornerstone of African-American literary record, The Souls of Black colored Folk is a classic work by W. E. B. Du Bois. Actually published in 1903, it contains many essays on race and equality, but is also a piece of seminal record, laying the groundwork for the field of sociology. A number of the essays in the reserve were even recently published by the Atlantic Monthly mag. When writing, Du Bois drew from his personal experiences as an African-American in the us to highlight the issues of prejudice that were still happening into the 20th century.
