Miyamoto Musashi (1584 - 1645) was arguably the greatest swordsman who ever before lived, a legendary figure whose ways of thought and strategy have been examined and used across a wide spectrum of contemporary society, from martial music artists to military market leaders to captains of industry. The iconic sword saint of Japan was plainly a genius, yet he was also an operating psychopath - ruthless, fearless, hyper-focused, and absolutely without conscience. Soon before he died, Musashi wrote down his final thoughts about life for his favorite scholar Terao Magonojo to whom Go Rin No Sho, his famous Publication of Five Wedding rings, had also been dedicated. He called this treatise Dokkodo, which translates as, "The Way of Walking Alone". This treatise has Musashi's original 21 precepts of the Dokkodo along with five different interpretations of each passage written from the viewpoints of the monk (Wilder), a warrior (Burrese), a teacher (Smedley), an insurance exec (Christensen), and a businessman (Kane). Each contributor has taken a divergent route from others, yet shares the commonality to be a lifelong martial specialist and published publisher. In this manner you are not simply hearing a straightforward translation of Musashi's writing, you are scrutinizing his last words for deeper so this means. In them are long lasting lessons for how to lead a successful and significant life.
