"Kidnapped" is a historical fiction excitement book by the Scottish publisher Robert Louis Stevenson. Written as a "boys' book" and first released in the newspaper Young People from May to July 1886, the book has enticed the praise and admiration of freelance writers as diverse as Henry Adam, Jorge Luis Borges, and Seamus Heaney. A sequel, "Catriona", was released in 1893.
As historical fiction, it is defined around 18th hundred years Scottish situations, notably the "Appin Murder", which occurred near Ballachulish in 1752 in the aftermath of the Jacobite Climbing. Many of the heroes, and one of the principals, Alan Breck Stewart, were real people. The political situation of the time is portrayed from different viewpoints, and the Scottish Highlanders are cured sympathetically.
