Just before and at the start of the US Civil War, Indian territory was an untamed lawless place filled up with Indians, outlaws teamsters, farms, cities folks, and homes of ill repute. The five civilized tribes were slaveholders, but were radically different than their white counterparts. There have been strict laws regarding the mistreatment of slaves and after seven years of servitude the slave was given his / her independence and given the choice of being implemented by the tribe. When hostilities broke out between the North and the South the Indians joined up with the Confederacy and fought in the Struggle of Elkhorn Tavern at Pea Ridge, Arkansas. My children built and held Elkhorn Tavern before Point out of Arkansas bought it at "fair market value" and donated it to the US Parks Department. I do not think about this work of historical fiction to be a war reserve, though occur the Civil War era. It is more about the people that resided in those times and their life-style.
