The purpose of this publication is to give some track record information to students who are approaching philosophy for the very first time. As such, it is not intended to be an benefits to viewpoint textbook, but more as a companion to a viewpoint introductory course or publication. Way too many students, in my own view, complete their introductory viewpoint course lacking any adequate understanding of the subject in general. There is no doubt of course that having considered a viewpoint course they will form a good notion what the topic is about, and what it tries to achieve. However they are more likely than never to leave the course with a hazy idea as to its long and varied record, the questions adjoining the very dynamics of the topic itself, about its various branches and sub-branches etc. The chapters in this publication deal with these and other issues that are generally touched upon, but hardly ever expanded on, in a typical introductory course of philosophy. They might perhaps be given a lecture or two at the beginning of the course. But these issues are almost never considered important enough to be the topic for even more lecture or discussion. Yet, I believe that students' understanding of viewpoint would be enhanced, and they would face less misunderstandings and uncertainty, if they are given home elevators the topics discussed in this publication. Inside the first chapter, I have outlined the fantastic philosophers' conceptions of viewpoint. In doing this, my target was to show that philosophy is an ever-evolving subject matter which admits of no last and unanimous explanation.
