When Kim O'Hara's Irish parents pass away, he is still left to raise himself on the pavements of Lahore where he scrapes a full time income. After being acknowledged by an acquaintance of his dad, Kim is sent to an English university to learn espionage, and his education is paid for by a vintage Tibetan priest. After graduating both are reunited and two roam India in search of the River of the Arrow, that will clean away all sin. Kim must find a way of reconciling his status as both a sahib (white Western) and a chela (disciple). Set during the time of the British isles Raj, this common is one of the present day Library's 100 best English-language literature of the 20th hundred years. It is partially predicated on the childhood encounters of the Nobel Prize-winning author Rudyard Kipling, who himself was raised in Lahore.
