The coverage of manifest destiny increased tensions with Mexico in the 1840s. Mexico's northern half made the western border of the territory bought in the Louisiana Purchase. Naturally, notions of the United States widening to the Pacific Ocean alarmed Mexico, which kept what is today the western coast of the United States. However, Mexico first came up to consider American development as a significant problem with the immigration of People in the usa into its northeastern territory. These Americans announced self-reliance from Mexico and created a country in the Mexican province of Tx. After winning self-reliance in 1836, Tx became an unbiased republic. Texas formally asked to be annexed by the United States in 1845. This annexation angered the Mexican authorities, which still considered Tx to be part of its territory. Mexico had previously warned that the annexation of Tx would cause Mexico to declare battle on the United States. Once the annexation bill was handed down by Congress, it included yet another provocation to Mexico: it said that the southern border of Tx was the Rio Grande. The specific territory controlled by the Republic of Tx did not expand almost to the Rio Grande, which border would represent a further lack of territory to the United States.
