Bok leaves his community to try his chance in Kiev and, after denying his Jewish identification, finds himself working for an associate of the anti-Semitic Dark Hundreds Society. When the boy is available practically drained of blood vessels in a cave, the Dark Hundreds accuse the Jews of ritual murder.
