"The Five Orange Pips", one of the 56 brief Sherlock Holmes stories written by United kingdom creator Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, is the fifth of the 12 stories in The Journeys of Sherlock Holmes. The story was initially posted in The Strand Journal in November 1891. Conan Doyle later positioned the storyplot seventh in a list of his 12 favorite Sherlock Holmes stories. That is also one of only two Sherlock Holmes brief stories where Holmes' customer dies after seeking his help. The other is "The Dance Men".
