"I don't have confidence in the word gang. Yes I've acquired a violent recent and made reckless selections I'm not pleased with but it's too easy (and lazy) to chuck for this gang label. We were simply a group of multi-cultural kids who resided on common floor and shared a similar have difficulties. I'm not hoping to state I'm just some sufferer of circumstances, the truth is I became a sufferer of my excuses. There was a strong come-unity but we also came from broken families and had crime, drugs and assault all around us. This public deprivation triggers misguided pride, perplexed commitment and thinking we had an extended family on the house. We didn't really act like no family though. Disputes were settled with manpower, knives and guns. Familiar encounters from childhood became bitter enemies in conflict with only a highway separating us from the frontline. I've lost the right visitors to the avenues. And I don't just mean death and prison. after all the road mentality had taken away a part of us. Took away who we were destined to become. Our futures. This is the tale of my journey. It's a reflection of how I fell out of one system and rushed into another. The storyline of how I became a prisoner to the avenues and somehow escaped."
