An American-born guy grew up in a little community on the Greek island of Crete. In his this past year in high school, he observed the German invasion of the island in May of 1941 through the start of WWII. At the age of 18, he signed up with a resistance group headed by his sibling and supplied critical information to the SOE, an arm of the English Cleverness Service. This resistance group is uncovered, leading to their hasty evacuation by the SOE to Cairo, Egypt. In Cairo, the author and his sibling were asked to join the English Cleverness Service, but instead, pursued the North american OSS, or Office of Strategic Services, the newly formed American intelligence counterpart. They were enlisted in to the US Army, and mounted on the OSS, where the author was trained in the Secret Cleverness sector, which included parachute jumping, cordless/Morse code training, commando/defense training, locks/safe-cracking techniques, get away methods, and environment assimilation techniques. After being transformed into a skilled "spy", the author was repaid to Greece undercover, and along with a Greek naval intelligence officer, setup a marketing communications cell in Salonica whereby daily coded emails to OSS Head office in Cairo were dispatched. One such communication describes the span of events bordering the bombing of the main railroad garden in Salonica and the loss of a large number of German troops. The author recounts his personal experience with the Cretan Level of resistance, his get away from from Crete through the mountains, the evacuation by an English torpedo motorboat, his OSS training, the return quest to Greece, as well as recalling the near-capture encounters with the Gestapo and Greek authorities, and his last return to america.
