Sarah wandered from foundation to bed, checking on the few patients at the Hedley Center. Most days brought patients with ear microbe infections, high blood pressure, asthma problems, and even the casual prenatal checkup. Still, there was a relatively regular circulation of emergency patients suffering traumas from farming damages and even alligator bites. The extensive dark-colored caimans were especially problematic, particularly during the wet times when they ventured in to the flooded savannas of the Amazon basin.
