Rainer Maria Rilke was a Bohemian Austrian poet and novelist, "widely recognized among the most lyrically extreme German-language poets", writing in both verse and highly lyrical prose. Several critics have explained Rilke's work as inherently "mystical". His writings include one book, several series of poetry, and many quantities of correspondence in which he invokes haunting images that concentrate on the difficulty of communion with the ineffable in an age of disbelief, solitude, and deep stress and anxiety. These deeply existential styles tend to position him as a transitional amount between your traditional and the modernist freelance writers. Rilke was created in the Austro-Hungarian Empire; travelled thoroughly throughout Europe, including Russia, Spain, Germany, France, and Italy; and in his later years resolved in Switzerland - configurations which were key to the genesis and ideas for most of his poems.
