Former Sea Jason McKay thinks his first project as a armed forces intelligence officer - as the head of a safeguard detail for a Republic senator's little girl on her humanitarian mission to the legend colonies - will be a boring misuse of time. Until Aphrodite, the agricultural colony they're touring, is invaded by an inhuman opponent that could threaten Earth, and McKay and his people are stuck far behind opponent lines. The tiny group of commandos also attempts to find out more on the true identification of their opponent, who might not exactly be as alien as they imagine. Together, these two officers combat to survive, to protect the civilians in their charge...also to do their responsibility.
