The author expects to be performed guiltless by those to whom the work is addressed: enlightened souls who prefer dried up wines to lovely, sense to sentiment, wit to humor, and clean British to slang. A conspicuous and, it is hoped, not unpleasant feature of the e book is its considerable illustrative quotations from eminent poets, main of whom is the fact learned and ingenius cleric Daddy Gassalasca Jape, SJ, whose lines keep his initials. Ambrose Bierce vanished in Mexico in 1913.
