From filmmaker and New Yorker contributor Susanna Fogel comes a comedic novel in regards to a fractured family of New Great britain Jews and their discontents. Informed entirely in letters to a heroine we never meet, we get to know the Fellers through their check-ins with Julie during the period of three ages: their thank-you notes, letters of condolence, family gossip, and good old-fashioned familial passive-aggression. Mutually, their missives - some sardonic, others absurd, others heartbreaking - weave a tapestry of an extremely modern family seeking (and frequently failing) to show each other they worry. The titular "nuclear family" includes, among many others, a narcissistic former-child-prodigy dad who has adopted haiku writing in his old age and his new wife, a traditional Chinese woman whose tries to help her stepdaughter find a guy include FedExing her silk dresses from Filene's Basement; their six-year-old kid, Stuart, whose favorite condiment is truffle petrol and who wears suits to bed; and Julie's mother, a psychologist who never remarried but may maintain love with her arrogant rabbi and overshares about everything, including the threesome she acquired with Dutch grad students in 1972. Full solid of narrators includes Ellen Archer, Lauren Fortgang, Jessica Almasy, Suzanne Toren, Jonathan Davis, Carol Monda, Richard Ferrone, Stephen Bel Davies, L. J. Ganser, Dan Bittner, Lance Rubin, and Josh Hurley.
