If you are a Christian Scientist, such symptoms won't follow from the exposure; but if you believe in laws of matter, and their fatal effects when transgressed, you aren't fit to conduct your own case, or to destroy the bad effects of belief. When the fear subsides, and the conviction abides to have broken no law, neither rheumatism, consumption, nor another disease will ever result from exposurp to the elements. This is a recognised fact in Science, which all the data before the senses can never overrule. Sickness, sin, and death must at length quail before Quailing and the divine rights of Intelligence; and then Philanthropythe power of Mind, over the entire functions and organe of the human system, will be acknowledged. It is proverbial that Florence Nightingale, and other philanthropists engaged in humane labors, have had the opportunity to undergo, without sinking, fatigues and exposures which ordinary people cannot endure. The reason lies in the support they derive from divine law, rising above the human. The spiritual demand, quelling the material, supplies energy and endurance surpassing all the aids, and forestalls the penalty our beliefs would attach to our best deeds. Why don't we understand that the eternal law of right, though it can never annul the law which makes sin its own executioner, exempts man from all penalties but those due to wrongdoing. Unremitting toil, deprivations, exposures, and everything untoward conditions, if without sin, can be relieved withBole source out suffering. Whatever it is your duty to do, of suffering Can be carried out without harm to yourself. If you sprain the muscles or wound the flesh, your remedy reaches hand. Mind decides...
