Long before Captain Jack Sparrow increased hell with the Pirates of the Caribbean, Tom Bristol sailed to hell and back Under the Black Ensign. That’s where the real adventure begins.
Bristol’s experienced plenty of misfortune in his life. Press-ganged into portion aboard a British isles vessel, he’s noticed the cruel captain’s lash on his rear. Then, freed from his servitude by pirates, his good fortune immediately requires a bad move . . . as the pirates accuse him of murder—and leave him to pass away over a deserted island. Now all he has left are a few drops of drinking water, a gun, and just enough bullets to place himself out of his misery.
But Bristol’s good fortune is going to change. Finding himself in the unpredicted company of a fiery woman and a crafty team, he unsheathes his sword, raises a pirate flag of his own, and cause to have sex and war on the wide open seas.
In his early on twenties, Hubbard led the two-and-a-half-month, five-thousand-mile Caribbean FILM Expedition. He used that with the Western Indies Mineralogical Expedition near San Juan, Puerto Rico, where he completed the island’s first mineralogical review as an American place. It was during these two journeys that Hubbard became a specialist on the Caribbean’s multi-colored history—an competence he drew to write experiences like Under the Black Ensign.
