Almost 2,000 years before Homer wrote his epic poems, the Minoan civilization was devoted to the island of Crete, a location that required the Minoans to be always a regional sea ability. Many different theories have been advanced, but there is still no consensus related to its roots or even if it was designed to be writing.Discovering ancient shipwrecks was not a novelty for a large number of years, however when artifacts were salvaged from a Roman shipwreck from the Greek island of Antikythera in 1900, the finding of one set off one of the fantastic mysteries of antiquity. When sponge divers investigated the shipwreck, they found the type of items often associated with such discoveries, including marble statues, pottery, rings, and coins.
