Private investigator Isabel Spellman is back again on the situation and back again on the couch—in courtordered therapy after getting a little too close to her previous subject. In the mean time, Spellmania carries on. Izzy’s brother, David, the family’s most upright member, has implemented an uncharacteristically unkempt appearance and frame of mind toward work, life, and Izzy. And their wayward youngest sister, Rae, a traditional academics underachiever, aces the PSATs and consequently offends her study partner and subject of obsession, Detective Henry Rock, to the point of excommunication. Really the only unsurprising behavior comes from her parents, whose appointments to Milo’s club amount to thinly veiled surveillance and artful efforts (read: blackmail) at getting Izzy to return to the Spellman Inc. flip.
As the situation of the wayward partner continues to vex her, Izzy’s personal life—and mental health— appear to be disintegrating. Facing a enclosure crisis, she can’t rest, she can’t keep in mind where she parked her car, and, despite her shrinks’* persistence, she can’t appear to break through in her meetings. She certainly can’t clarify whyshe forgets schedules with her law firm’s grandson, orfails to interpret the come-ons granted in an Irishbrogue by Milo’s new bartender.
