A wealthy and depressed man (thanks to the current economic climate, he's not quite wealthy enough to increase his cache of paintings by Vincent Van Guy, the famous Dutch realist) destined for Christmas in the tropics is abruptly summoned home to North Dakota to visit an ailing aunt. He occurs just with time to be captured there by the blizzard. The electricity goes out, and when it does, figures from his child years look, and historical figures too, for a festive candlelit trip. In his reverie, our man reaches an epiphany worth the season - he hears the harkening angels sing, he is awed by the silence of the night time (dead private: not TV), so when he is finally rescued, leaves North Dakota settled to simplify his life.
