Madame de Lafayette's common story of intrigue and love, La Princesse de Clèves, was dramatised for BBC Radio 3 and at first transmit in the Crisis on 3 slot machine on 28 Feb 2010. Set in the 16th hundred years, the play practices the life span of a lovely young lady recently presented to Court. It is the reign of Henri II, and Mary Queen of Scots is safely and securely ensconced in France. It's a time of dangerous liaisons when one come out of lines could ruin a female and her family. Quickly committed off, the naïve princess sees herself adored and taunted by those around her. And, whilst they gossip cruelly, she becomes helplessly and dangerously swept up in matters of love. Playfully modified, this BBC Radio 3 dramatization offsets the princess' agonizing conflict between responsibility and love with heroes who delight in the wickedness of their world. La Princesse de Clèves stars Melody Grove as La Princesse, Candida Benson as her mom, and Liam Brennan as Clèves.
