Anne Watts grew up in a tiny community in north Wales in the 1940s. Motivated by university geography lessons that told of far-off lands, she broke out of the conventional options open to ladies in post-war Britain, defying her father's dated views. She trained as a nurse and midwife, joined up with the Save the kids Fund and was put up to Vietnam in 1967.Among only three British isles nurses in your community, Anne witnessed the arbitrary cruelty of warfare, nursing harmed and orphaned children and caring for wounded and dying servicemen. She went on for taking her skills to the subjects of Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge in Cambodia, to Lebanon through the Israeli profession, and Saudi Arabia during Desert Storm. Over some 45 years Anne has taken her courage and compassion to those most in need of help.
