Leila Blackwell is suffering from keratitis, a problem that, coupled with prior attention problems, is gradually robbing her of her perception. Nevertheless, she stubbornly attempts to keep up a "normal" lifestyle, often forsaking the companionship of her fan, Cathy, to do something individually, as any completely sighted person might do. It's thus that she locates herself only in a general public rest room when a familiar male tone of voice penetrates the silence, expressing, "You shouldn't be afraid, I won't injure you." Leila locates herself kidnapped and restricted in a cellar, slowly and progressively losing her perception, as she is forced to engage in a batlle of wills with a man who beleives he is acting to save her soul.
