Thomas Grey is world famous as the author of "Gray's Elegy", more properly known as "Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard". He did not write quite definitely, but he do write more than just his most famous poem. This collection is a recording of the 1768 Dodsley model, the primary publication of his poetry that he publicized during his life span. It involves only 10 poems, written mostly during the 1740s. Although he persisted to create after 1768, it can seem as though he deemed this collection as the definitive body of the work he most respected. These poems are amazingly varied. Through the solemn idea of the "Elegy", he goes to dramatic portrayals of history and even some alternatively funny verse, though always with a moral firmness. I request the reader to enjoy this small assortment of Gray, in which one can get a sense of the man behind the verse, the man who had written the immortal lines of the "Elegy".
