Arthur Drams works for a hidden knowledge government security company, but all he really does is spend his days and nights in a cubical writing records no-one reads. After getting another "lateral campaign" with a supervisor who barely remembers his name, it's recommended that Arthur try to "socialize" and "be seen" in order to move in the ladder. It's like senior high school yet again: His efforts to be friendly run into as awkward and creepy, and no-one wants to sit at the same table with him at lunch break. In the last-ditch try to be observed as friendly and outgoing, he determines to socialize with The Alien, aka Agent Martin Grove, known for his unusual eating habits, different reading choices, and the actual fact that no-one has spoken to him in three years. Starting with a brief, surprisingly interesting conversation on sociology catalogs, Arthur slowly starts to chip away with the Alien's wall space using home-cooked foods to lure the secretive agent out of his abrasive shell. Except Martin might just be something closer to an actual hidden knowledge agent than paper-pusher Arthur is, and it could be more than hearts vulnerable when something more than camaraderie starts to develop.
