Admiral Alfred Thayer Mahan was a USA Navy flag officer, who may have been called "the main American strategist of the 19th century." His idea of "sea electric power" was predicated on the idea that countries with increased naval electric power will have increased worldwide impact; it was most famously presented in The Effect of Sea Power Upon History, 1660-1783. The concept had an enormous influence in shaping the proper considered Navy's across the world, especially in the United States, Germany, Japan and Britain, in the end causing the globe Conflict 1 naval biceps and triceps race. His ideas still permeate the U.S. Navy Doctrine. The Elements of Sea Power is the first book of his enormously long treatise on Sea Power. Mahan's ideas, along with many examples are detailed in this book. It is still greatly read today and is required reading in many military services classes surrounding the world. The others of his magnum opus is a detailed analysis of the practices and strategies of sea battle that occurred from 1660 to 1783 which is rarely read today. This is not included in this recording. However, the music includes home elevators the way to get the whole treatise cost-free.
