William Sanford Nye, popularly known as Bill Nye the Knowledge Guy, can be an American knowledge communicator, television presenter, and mechanised engineer. He is most widely known as the sponsor of the PBS children's knowledge show Bill Nye the Knowledge Guy, and then for his many following appearances in popular advertising as a knowledge educator. Nye started out his job as a mechanised engineer for Boeing Corporation in Seattle, where he created a hydraulic resonance suppressor tube used on 747 airplanes. In 1986, Nye still left Boeing to go after comedy, writing, and executing jokes and pieces for the neighborhood sketch television show Almost Live!, where he would regularly conduct wacky science tests. Nye aspired to become another Mr. Wizard and with the help of several producers successfully pitched the children's television program Bill Nye the Knowledge Man to KCTS-TV, Seattle's general population television stop. The show - which proudly proclaimed in its theme melody that "science guidelines!" - ran from 1994 to 1999 in national Television syndication. Known because of its "high-energy display and MTV-paced segments", the program became popular for both kids and men and women. The show was critically acclaimed and was nominated for 23 Emmy Honors, winning 19.
