Pru and her spouse, former Detective Main Inspector Christopher Pearse, are long overdue for a holiday. So when Pru is asked to redesign an Arts and Crafts garden in the picturesque Cotswolds, she and Christopher hop at the opportunity. However, their B&B is more ramshackle than lovely, and the once growing garden, using its lovely Thyme Walk, has fallen into heartbreaking neglect. Using the garden's owner and artist, Batsford Bede, under the elements, Pru tackles the reconstruction alone. But just as she's needs to make headway, she stumbles upon Batsford's body in the garden - inactive and pinned beneath one of is own limestone statues. With such a tiny police force in the region, Christopher is called upon to lead the analysis. Pru can't envision anyone murdering Batsford Bede, a mild man who preferred to invest his amount of time in quiet contemplation, bounded naturally. But as her work on the garden arises one ominous hint after another, Pru discovers that the surroundings is more dangerous than she or Christopher would have anticipated.
