The Problems of Idea discusses Bertrand Russell's views on idea and the issues that come up in the field. Russell's views focus on knowledge as opposed to the metaphysical world of idea. The Issues with Idea revolves around the central question that Russell asks in his beginning line of Section 1 - Will there be any knowledge on the planet which is so certain that no fair man could suspect it? He examines this question by delving in to the idea of fact versus appearance, as for Russell and other philosophers who show his ideas it is sensory belief of the world around them that designs their knowledge. It is in this work that he discusses his notion of sense-data to help describe the variations between appearance and fact. The Problems of Idea is Russell's first attempt at tracking and working by way of a theory of epistemology, which is the theory of the type of human being knowledge. Bertrand Russell (1872-1970) was an British philosopher, logician, mathematician, public critic, and historian. He is remembered to be a leader in the United kingdom revolt against idealism, as well as a founding father of the field of analytic idea. He was also well known for his very open public anti-war and anti-imperialist stances.
