A man who was simply exiled from his love for one year because of the wishes of her parents, sees himself in Paris. With not much else to do to go away his time, having seen most of the city and its own suburbs, he starts exploring further away from Paris itself. His wanderings lead him to a unusual, dusty community and in to the dangerous house of an even stranger couple. Initially he is thoroughly entertained by the discussion the unusual old woman has to offer him, and even more engrossed once her unusual husband joins the discussion as well. But soon he's overwhelmed by uncomfortableness and realizes that there is something not right about the problem. As he sees himself fleeing for his life, he discovers the eery occurrence of burial by rats. About the writer: Bram Stoker (1847-1912) was an Irish author of novels and brief stories, most well-known for his gothic horror novel Dracula. Although he composed throughout his life while working as an individual assistant and theatre manager, he didn't achieve much literary fame until after his fatality.
