The spectacular ship is already boiling over with a mutinous plot that is just about to break into the open when, just off of the coast of European Australia, it attacks an unseen reef in the middle of the night time. While Commandeur Francisco Pelsaert makes a decision to use the longboat across 2,000 miles of open sea for help, his second-in-command Jeronimus Cornelisz takes over, quickly deciding that 250 people on a tiny island is unwieldy for the tiny number of equipment they have. Quietly, he places forward an idea to 40 strange mutineers how they could save themselves, destroy most of the others, and free only a half-dozen or so women, including his personal luxury, Lucretia Jansz - one of the known beauties of Holland - to service their sexual needs. A reign of terror commences, countered only by way of a previously private soldier, Wiebbe Hayes, who commences to assemble to him those are ready to do what it takes to survive....
