Hermod and Havdor were foster brother and sister, lifted by a King and Queen, and very close. They long had plans to wed each other when they were old enough. When the Queen dropped ill, she made her hubby promises that if he remarried, it must be to the Queen of Hetland. After his partner died, the King traveled to find this Queen of Hetland and have for her hand in matrimony. She quickly arranged and returned home with him. Upon their arrival back, Hermod and Havdor discover this new Queen isn't as nice as she was reported to be. The Queen of Hetland then sets Hermod and Havdor through lots of troubles and attempts her hardest to keep them apart. Andrew Lang (1844-1912) was a Scottish copy writer who gathered fairy and folk stories from various ethnicities and put them mutually in twelve amounts of stories. He was noted when planning on taking the stories from as much original sources as is possible, keeping the fairy stories near to their meant meanings.
