One year before Jackie Robinson broke the colour line in major group football in 1947, four dark players joined up with the Cleveland Browns and LA Rams to be the first professional basketball players of African-American descent in the present day time. While blacks got played out on professional clubs in the first days of pro football, none got joined up with a team since 1934. In such a book, 12 players who commenced their occupations from 1946 to 1955 not only reminisce about the violence they faced on and off the field, the segregated hotels and restaurants, and general hostility that is included with being truly a trailblazer, but also of white players and mentors who assisted and backed them at various phases of the lives. On the list of oral histories shown here are those of such Hall of Famers Monthly bill Willis, Joe Perry, and George Taliaferro.
