When two young women, Lily and Ida, meet on the airfare to America they go on a marriage that is to see them through two very different marriages which is to bring them comfort and stress, joy and tragedy, in equivalent solution as the years unfold. Great-granddaughter to Charles Dickens, Monica (1915-1992) was born into an upper-middle-class family. Disillusioned with the globe she was brought up in - she was expelled from St Paul's Ladies' School in London for tossing her school even over Hammersmith Bridge - Dickens then went into service, despite from the privileged category. Her encounters as a make meals and general servant would form the nucleus of her first reserve, One Pair of Hands, in 1939. Dickens committed an American Navy official, Roy O. Stratton, and put in a lot of her adult life in Massachusetts and Washington D.C., but the majority of her writing stayed occur Britain. Her book of 1953, No More Meadows, reflected her use the NSPCC and she later helped to found the American Samaritans in Massachusetts. Between 1970 and 1971 she composed a series of children's catalogs known as The Worlds End Series, which dealt with rescuing pets and, to some extent, children. After the fatality of her hubby in 1985, Dickens went back to Britain where she prolonged to create until her fatality, aged 77.
