Everyone knows the Frankenstein monster was enjoyed by Boris Karloff. His portrayal is so famous that the play Arsenic and Old Ribbons was filled up with Karloff monster jokes - even though the area of the monstrously deformed villain was enjoyed by another actor. But before Karloff's memorable portrayal, another famous 1930s Hollywood icon, Bela Lugosi, analyzed for the area of the monster. The display test video footage was lost for decades, until Valentino, the never-say-die film archivist, gets a hot suggestion about the whereabouts of the incriminating (for really bad, greatly accented acting) footage. Nonetheless it comes with a price much larger than the amount of money he'll have to pay. Someone would eliminate to get that reel of film, and that makes Valentino a mortal obstacle who would rather not expire for art. Folks have already been murdered for the film, and Val doesn't want to drive his good luck...but boy, that reel is too good to let go. Enter a staff of steampunk supporters. Loving the arcane strangeness that is Valentino's life - not forgetting the completely glam potential client of seeing the initial filmic Matter Dracula as the Frankenstein monster - they'll find a way to save lots of Valentino and Lugosi's infamous display test. Or if indeed they can't do that, have a great party in any case. Val just hopes it isn't a wake.
