In The Man UP AGAINST THE Sky, Edwin Arlington Robinson reveals us with a gallery of characters attracted from the roadways, homes and gathering places of Tilbury Town, his imaginary Northeastern dwelling place. At the end of the e book, he sums them all up in the great and troubling poem that gives the title to the e book, a portrait of a man seen against a fiery sky, a lonesome man, unidentified, yet representative of most mankind and of the real human struggle to achieve - or, at the minimum, continue the have difficulty.
