These Chronicles could have been authored by Thomas Jefferson experienced he been so willing to take action. He and Captain Meriwether Lewis put in long evenings tracing its daily record of "Courses and Ranges" onto dark brown paper on to the floor of the East Wing of the White House. After Lewis's untimely fatality, Jefferson instead relegated the job to Captain William Clark. Because of this, the narrative of the expedition has, as yet, never been informed as Captain Meriwether Lewis expected it to be. The author found out these Chronicles in transcribing the initial handwritten journals. He has edited and annotated them to include simple biographical sketches of the participants of the expedition, backdrop information regarding the Native North american Indian tribes they experienced, and the existing place brands of the geographical land grades the captains named honoring members of their party. (Sadly, do not require remain named as the Captains expected.) Anyone reading these Chronicles will agree with historian and publisher Stephen Ambrose when he said, "The journals [Captain Meriwether Lewis] wrote are among his most significant achievements and constitute a priceless gift to the American people."
