This is a tale from the Dubliners, Amount 1 collection. James Joyce's Dubliners is a collection of short reports about the lives of the people of Dublin across the convert of the hundred years. Each story describes a tiny but significant minute of crisis or revelation in the life span of a particular Dubliner, sympathetically but always with stark integrity. Lots of the characters are desperate to flee the confines of the humdrum lives, though those which may have the possibility to do so appear unable to take it. This work contains none of the difficulties of Joyce's later books, such as Ulysses, yet in its way it is merely as radical. These reports bring in us to metropolis which fed Joyce's whole creative output, and to many of the characters who made it such a well of literary inspiration.
