The Texan Confederate armies, under Standard Henry H. Sibley, experienced their supply coach destroyed by the very first Colorado Union Volunteers at Glorieta Go away, and have only one prize remaining: A power supply of Union artillery captured at the Fight of Valverde. The Texans, with the force decimated and dispirited by the lack of fallen comrades, are driven to involve some glory to show for their dreadful losses.
