The Last Heart of Witherspoon takes a "global" address in its history of funds university in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky known as Witherspoon College. Also included is a brief history of Witherspoon College itself, with an emphasis on benefactors from Brooklyn, New York. Listeners may be stunned to learn of the connection between Times Square, the New York subway system, and the famous Underwood typewriter and a small mountain village called Buckhorn, Kentucky. The story here offers a personal contrast of "old-time religion" versus what one writer has termed "denominational imperialism." Faith is referenced a great deal, but this isn't a spiritual audiobook.
