By this time around, almost all of the Murphy's stores possessed shut and new Murphy's Marts were built to replace small dime stores. We resided very close to Kmart in Bryan. The store was only a short walk across the field near our house. I requested employment at Kmart and was soon chosen, since I had developed earlier retail experience at Murphy's.
